Card Celebrating Friendships using Dreamerland Crafts Stamp
Hey there! Iโm so glad you decided to visit my blog today. This card is one of my favourites and I am excited to share it with you. Most of my cards are inspired by the people around me, my family and my friends, and of course, the amazing paper crafters.ย
While making this card, all I could think of was the times my sister and I chatted away till the wee hours of the morning.
When I saw this stamp, the first thing I thought of was my awesome sister. Sheโs always been there for me.ย Like all other siblings, we have had our share of fights but we were back to normal within no time. No matter what the situation is my sister always supports me. She was a shy little kid and now has grown up to be this confident lady who I can’t live without even for a day. We HAVE to talk or chat every single day. I decided to make this card for her because she was and will always be My Best Friend. โค
Below is the process for the card I made.ย
I cut the card base out of Canson XL Mix Media paper using the largest die from the Peek a Frame die set by Mama Elephant and then ran it through my Big Shot. I then stamped the image on it usingย Heart-to-Heart stamp by Dreamerland Crafts with Versafine Onyx Black ink. I did use my Tim Holtz Stamp Platform as I wanted to stamp the image at the exact position.
Since I wanted to work on the background without getting any of the colour on the image, I stamped the image on a masking sheet, fuzzy cut it and stuck it on the image. I had used the masked cut out for a card I made earlier (you can always save it for future use), so while clicking this picture for demonstration I used the same mask; hence it is coloured.
My crafting table always has the Non Stick Craft Sheet on it as it is easy to clean up the mess and is heat resistant. So, while colouring this card, I did not have to worry about getting the ink on my desk. If you do not have a Craft sheet, I would advise you to cover your desk with printer paper.ย
I decided to colour the sky first, so I stuck some post its to mask the grass area. I used Mermaid Lagoon Distress Ink for the sky.
I then reversed the post its and coloured the grass using Mowed Lawn Distress Ink.ย
Next, I splattered some water on the background using Tim Holtz Distress Sprayer and dabbed it with some tissue paper. I wiped off any water that was on the masked area and once the masking sheet was dry I removed it.
Since the background was done, I moved on to colouring the stamped image. I used Zig Clean Color Real Brush Markers for this. After colouring the images, I decided to add polka dots to the pink dress using Uni-ball Signo White Gel pen. I gave some details at the edges of the orange dress using Sakura Gelly Roll Stardust Silver Pen.
The next step was to stamp the sentiment, for which I chose a stamp from the Dress Form stamp set by Paper Wishes (Hot off the press). I used the Tim Holtz Stamp Platform for this step too as I didnโt want to ruin the card.
Finally, I stuck the cardstock to the card base and I was done. I sincerely hope my sister loves the card! Fingers crossed! โค๏ธ
