Altenew Build-A-Flower: Tree Peony Release Blog Hop + Giveaway

Hey everyone, welcome back to my blog! It is the first of June and that means it’s time for another Build-A-Flower: Release by Altenew. I am so excited to join the Build-A-Flower: Tree Peony Release Blog Hop + Giveaway. You should be arriving here from the amazing Seeka’s blog, but if not, you can go back to the start, at the Altenew Card Blog and go from there.

First I stamped the outline of the images from the Build-A-Flower: Tree Peony Stamp Set on a sheet of Neenah Solar White cardstock using Obsidian Pigment Ink. Then I used the below Crisp Dye inks for the rest of the layers:
Flower:
1st LayerPink Diamond
2nd LayerPinkalicious
3rd LayerRazzleberry and Jet Black
4th LayerCitrus Burst
5th LayerWarm Sunshine
6th LayerCaramel Toffee
Leaves:
1st Layer
Bamboo
2nd LayerGrass Field
3rd LayerMountain Pine and Jet Black

Next, I coloured the smaller flowers and leaves with my alcohol markers. I then die cut the images using the coordinating die set.

To create the background, I ink an A2 cardstock using Silver Stone and Industrial Diamond Crisp Inks along with an ink blending tool. Next, I inked one side of the Deck Planks 3D Embossing Folder using Jet Black Crisp Dye Ink, placed the card panel in it and ran it through my die cutting machine.

After that, I inked a white cardstock using Pink Diamond, Pinkalicious and Razzleberry Crisp Dye Inks, placed the Hang In There Die on it and ran it through the die cutting machine. I also die cut the sentiment out of black cardstock and white cardstock. To assemble the sentiment, I stuck the white die cut sentiment behind the coloured die cut slightly offsetting it to create a highlight and then offset the black die cut sentiment to the coloured die cut piece to create a shadow.

I then stuck the leaves and smaller flowers on the card panel and splattered white ink on the background. Lastly, I stuck the flower and sentiment on the card front and stuck this panel on an A2 card base using precision glue.

  1. I love your card!!!! The colors of the tree peony are beautiful!!!! Some of my favorite colors. I love the peonies against the dark background!!! Magnificent!!! Stunning! Spectacular!!!

  2. Wow, you hit a home run with this card. Every part you took to the next level. I really love the background and the way you shaded it . Thanks for such great inspiration!

  3. Great card! I’m a big fan of the dark textured background to let your bright pink peony and large sentiment really pop. I never thought to use offset black & white die cuts below my colored sentiment to create a shadow & highlight when a word die doesn’t come with either — brilliant!

  4. So pretty! I love the colors you used on your your beautiful card! Awesome new Build-A-Flower set!

  5. I am just mesmerized and in awe of how beautiful your card is, and how cool the deck plank inked embossed background looks ❤️

  6. So many levels to this gorgeous card. It would be perfect for a friend I know who had to have a Caesarian section while struggling with COVID 19 🙁
