Altenew Educators “New Favorite” Blog Hop and Linky Party + Giveaway

Hey everyone, welcome back to my blog! I am super thrilled to be a part of the Altenew Educators “New Favorite” Blog Hop and Linky Party + Giveaway! I have been a fan of all Altenew products since Day 1 of my crafting journey, but my recent favourite that I find myself going back to every time is the Woodless Coloring Pencils. I love how pigmented and smooth they are and it is such a treat to colour with them. These colours blend really well and are extremely vibrant too. In my card, I have demonstrated one of the ways I like using them, and I will be posting many more techniques in the future.

You should be arriving here from the amazing Helen’s blog, but if not, you can go back to the start, at the Altenew Card Blog and go from there.

First, I used the dies from the Craft-A-Flower: Morning Glory Layering Die Set and die cut the images from the Gradient Cardstock Sets – New Purple and Green Meadows. Then I assembled some of the pieces using precision glue.

After that, I used my Woodless Coloring Pencils to colour the flowers and leaves. Below are the colours I used:
Flowers – Cosmic Berry, Midnight Violet, Starlight, Jet Black and White
Leaves – Limeade, Grass Field, Shadow Creek, Jet Black and White

To create the background, I placed the Tiny Bubbles Stencil on an A2 watercolour cardstock and stuck it in place using a washi tape. Next, I applied Embossing Paste on it using a palette knife. Then I removed the stencil, sprinkled gold embossing powder on it, and heat set it. I repeated the above step one more time, and this time I sprinkled white embossing powder on the panel and heat set it.

I then coloured the background using Moss, Emerald, Limestone and Mountain Mist Watercolour Brush Markers. Once the panel was dry, I wiped off the watercolour from the embossed portion of the cardstock.

Next, I placed the Garden Trellis Cover Die on Jet Black cardstock and ran it through the die cutting machine. I then cut this panel at a few places and inked it using Antique Gold Pigment Ink and a sponge dauber. After that, I stuck it on the background panel.

Then I stamped the sentiment from the Best Sentiment Stamp Set using Obsidian Pigment Ink on a piece of white cardstock and cut it to a thin strip.

Lastly, I assembled the card and stuck this panel on an A2 card base.

  1. Wowwww such a beautiful card! After reading your blog I plan to gift myself these colours too. Thank you for explaining so well. 😍

  2. What a wonderful way to use your colored pencils! This technique adds a lot of dimension without the bulk of layers of paper. Thanks for the inspiration Joylita!
