Altenew Build-A-Flower: Indian Lotus Release Blog Hop + Giveaway

Hey everyone, welcome back to my blog! It is the first of May and that means it’s time for another Build-A-Flower: Release by Altenew. I am thrilled to join the Build-A-Flower: Indian Lotus Release Blog Hop + Giveaway. You should be arriving here from the amazing Tenia’s blog, but if not, you can go back to the start, at the Altenew Card Blog and go from there.

Project 1

I started by stamping the images from the Build-A-Flower: Indian Lotus Stamp Set using the below Crisp Dye inks:
Flower:
1st Layer – Pink Diamond
2nd Layer – Rubellite
3rd Layer – Grapevine and Jet Black
4th Layer – Citrus Burst
Leaves:
1st Layer – Bamboo
2nd Layer – Hunter Green and Evergreen

Note: For the layers with 2 different inks, I stamped the image first using the lighter ink. Then I applied the darker ink on the stamp set and blended it with my ink blending tool before stamping it. This technique helps me get more depth in my stamped images. You can follow this method using 3 inks as well to create an even more dramatic effect.

I then fussy cut the above stamped images.

To create the background, I masked an A2 watercolor cardstock using washi tape. Then I wet the paper using a flat brush and coloured it with Lagoon and Sea Breeze Watercolor Brush Markers. Next, I smooshed Starlight Crisp Dye Ink on my craft mat and applied it on the card panel using my round brush. I also splattered the ink on the card for more texture. Once the panel was dry, I removed the washi tape.

Next, I stamped the sentiment from the same stamp set using Obsidian Pigment Ink. After that, I assembled the images on the card panel and stuck this panel on an A2 card base using precision glue.

Project 2

For this card, I stamped the images from the Build-A-Flower: Indian Lotus Stamp Set using the same inks as the above card and fussy cut them. Next, I placed the Mid-Century Frame Die on a sheet of Jet Black cardstock and ran it through my die cutting machine.

After that, I scribbled Midnight Violet and Sea Breeze Brush Markers randomly on an acetate sheet, sprayed water on it and used this sheet to stamp the ink on an A2 watercolor cardstock. I let the ink dry and repeated the process one more time.

For the sentiment, I prepped a piece of Jet Black cardstock using an embossing powder bag to remove any static. Then I stamped the sentiment from the Beautiful Blossoms Stamp Set using Embossing Ink, sprinkled Pure White Crisp Embossing Powder on it, dusted off the excess and heat set it with my heat gun. Next, I cut this sentiment panel to a smaller rectangle using a trimmer.

Lastly, I stuck all the images on the card front and stuck this panel on an A2 card base using precision glue.
