Altenew: A Year In Review Blog Hop + Giveaway

Hello there, welcome back to my blog! I am super thrilled to join Altenew for A Year In Review Blog Hop + Giveaway. You should be arriving here from the amazing Jenny’s blog, but if not, you can go back to the start, at the Altenew Card Blog and go from there.

Here are four of my top favourite cards from this year.

Project 1

First I stamped the outline of the images from the Build-A-Flower: Tree Peony Stamp Set on a sheet of Neenah Solar White cardstock using Obsidian Pigment Ink. Then I used the below Crisp Dye inks for the rest of the layers:
Flower:
1st LayerPink Diamond
2nd LayerPinkalicious
3rd LayerRazzleberry and Jet Black
4th LayerCitrus Burst
5th LayerWarm Sunshine
6th LayerCaramel Toffee
Leaves:
1st Layer
Bamboo
2nd LayerGrass Field
3rd LayerMountain Pine and Jet Black

Next, I coloured the smaller flowers and leaves with my alcohol markers. I then die cut the images using the coordinating die set.

To create the background, I ink an A2 cardstock using Silver Stone and Industrial Diamond Crisp Inks along with an ink blending tool. Next, I inked one side of the Deck Planks 3D Embossing Folder using Jet Black Crisp Dye Ink, placed the card panel in it and ran it through my die cutting machine.

After that, I inked a white cardstock using Pink Diamond, Pinkalicious and Razzleberry Crisp Dye Inks, placed the Hang In There Die on it and ran it through the die cutting machine. I also die cut the sentiment out of black cardstock and white cardstock. To assemble the sentiment, I stuck the white die cut sentiment behind the coloured die cut slightly offsetting it to create a highlight and then offset the black die cut sentiment to the coloured die cut piece to create a shadow.

I then stuck the leaves and smaller flowers on the card panel and splattered white ink on the background. Lastly, I stuck the flower and sentiment on the card front and stuck this panel on an A2 card base using precision glue.

Project 2

I started by stamping the images from the Cozy Winter Vibes, Winter Wishes, and Winter Cottage Stamp Sets using Obsidian Pigment Ink. Next, I used my brown and white Polychromos Colour Pencils to colour them. I used my white gelly roll pen for the snow. Lastly, I stamped the sentiment from the Winter Wishes Stamp Set using Obsidian Pigment Ink.

Project 3

First, I stamped the image from the Paint-A-Flower: African Daisy Outline Stamp Set on an A2 watercolour cardstock using Obsidian Pigment Ink. After masking it, I stamped the image one more time. To create the background, I coloured the flowers using the Citrus Burst Watercolour Brush Marker and the leaves using the Emerald Burst Watercolour Brush Marker. Then I sprayed water on the panel.

Once the panel was dry, I used the below Watercolour Brush Markers from the Spring and Winter sets to colour the images:
Flowers: Citrus Burst, Autumn Blaze
Centres of the flowers: Emerald, Limeade
Leaves: Emerald, Limeade, Mountain Mist

After that, I stamped the sentiment from the same stamp set using Obsidian Pigment Ink. As the last step, I stuck this panel on an A2 card base.

Project 4

I stamped the outline of the flowers and leaves from the Fresh Bloom Stamp Set on a sheet of white cardstock using Obsidian Pigment Ink. I used the Glacier Caves and Summer Afternoon Mixed Media Inks for the rest of the layers.

Then I used the coordinating dies to die cut all the images. After that, I coloured the small flower branches using my Altenew Artist Markers.

To create the background, I stuck the Marsh Land Wide Washi Tape on an A2 card base. I then place the Diamond Frame Cover Die on a sheet of white cardstock and ran it through the die cutting machine. Next, I stuck this die cut frame on the A2 washi tape card panel.

After that, I stamped the sentiment from the Linear Life Daydreams Stamp Set on a strip of white cardstock using Paper Bag Pigment Ink. I then dragged the same ink pad along the edges to ink them. Lastly, I assembled the card panel using precision glue.

  1. liked card 2 the best. I like how you combined two stamp sets to get your look. all the snow reminds me of the snow we just got today. looks pretty on a card such as yours and I wish it could stay there as well!
I liked the card so much I now want these stamps!
I would even love to live there!

  2. I love your Hang in There card and just happen to have everything you used to create it. I am going to see if I can re-create it when I get some time to work on cards. I wouldn’t have thought to use a dark background as I usually use white.

  3. I loved all the cards, but really enjoyed the cabins. It is a set I wish I could have purchased, but couldn’t justify it, because I was afraid I wouldn’t have enouch uses for it. I am so grateful you shared it as one of your 2021 favorites.
