MFT Card Design Superstar contest – Coloring Virtuoso 2019

Hey there, my crafty friends! I am so glad you visited my blog today. This is my second card for the Superstar Contest by My Favorite Things. I made this card for the Coloring Virtuoso Contest using 9 stamp sets by MFT.

I wanted to create a fun Christmas scene, and I love all the adorable critters illustrated by Stacey Yacula. So I used a few of the stamps designed by her for my card. In this scene, the Penguins are hosting a little Christmas party at their house. I tried to portray all the fun that takes place during Christmas – the Carollers, the baby penguin inside the little gift box, piggy getting entangled in the lights.

I used the below stamps to create this card –
1) SY Sweet Holiday Penguins
2) BB Happy Pawlidays
3) SY Piggy Pebbles
4) SY Easter Bunnies
5) BB Secret Santa
6) SY Friendly Foxes
7) BB Space Explorer
8) SY Tweet Friends
9) SY Warm & Feathered Hugs

Since I wanted to stamp many images, I started by creating the scene on a piece of printer paper. Once I was happy with the results, I cut out masks for all the images that would be overlapping. Next, I cut a piece of Neenah Solar White 110lb cardstock to 5 * 10 inches. After that, I stamped the images in the foreground on it first using Extreme Black Hybrid Ink. I then masked them and stamped the images in the background. I have mentioned the detailed process below.

First, I stamped the Santa hat for the Penguin from the Sweet Holiday Penguins Stamp Set using the above guide I created as reference. I masked the rest of the image while stamping the hat. After that, I masked it and stamped the Penguin from the same stamp set.

To stamped the adorable Pig tangled in lights, I used the scene I created on the printer paper as a guide and stamped the light bulbs from the Happy Pawlidays Stamp Set. Then I masked them, and then inked and stamped only the Santa hat from the Sweet Holiday Penguins Stamp Set. After masking the hat, I stamped the Pig from the Piggy Pebbles Stamp Set. I then used a black Copic Multiliner pen to draw the wire connecting the light bulbs.

I wanted the Bunny from the Easter Bunnies Stamp Set to carry a pile of gifts in the wheelbarrow, so I masked off the egg before stamping the Bunny. Then I inked only the pile of gifts from the Sweet Holiday Penguins Stamp Set and stamped them over the wheelbarrow. I used my warm gray Copic Multiliner pen to create the imprint of the wheels in the snow.

To create the little Fox holding the cookie, I used the scene I had created as a reference, then I inked and stamped only one of the cookies from the cookie plate. This stamp is from the Secret Santa Stamp Set. After that, I masked the cookie and stamped the Fox from the Friendly Foxes Stamp Set.

Next, I used the guide as a reference to stamp the pile of gifts from the Sweet Holiday Penguins Stamp Set in front of the Christmas tree. I started by stamping the little Penguin in the gift box from the Sweet Holiday Penguins Stamp Set, masked it and stamped the rest of the gifts. Then I stamped the star from the Space Explorer Stamp Set, masked it and stamped the Christmas tree from the Secret Santa Stamp Set.

To create the cute little Carollers, I started by stamping the Santa hat from the Sweet Holiday Penguins Stamp Set first, using the guide I created as a reference. Then I stamped the Bird from the Tweet Friends Stamp Set, masked it and stamped the Owl from the Warm & Feathered Hugs Stamp Set.

Next, I stamped the two Penguins from the Sweet Holiday Penguins Stamp Set and masked the one on the right. I then stamped the trees from the Warm & Feathered Hugs Stamp Set.

After that, I created the hills using a warm gray Copic Multiliner pen. Next, I used my Copic Markers to colour the hills and the images.

Next, I masked the images and used Cracked Pistachio, Peacock Feathers, Salty Ocean and Chipped Sapphire Distress Inks along with a blender brush to colour the sky. I then splattered Copic Opaque White ink using a round brush to create the stars.

Once the background was dry, I stamped the sentiment from the Sweet Holiday Penguins Stamp Set, and the music notes from the Tweet Friends Stamp Set using Extreme Black Hybrid Ink.

Lastly, I created my card base by cutting a sheet of cardstock to 5 * 10 inches and another piece of cardstock to 5 1/2 * 10 inches. Then I scored the second cardstock at half an inch and then assembled these two panels using precision glue. As a final step, I stuck the card panel on this card base.
