Happy Autumn

Hello there! I am so glad to have you on my blog. It’s Mid-Autumn festival on the 13th of September, and Hong Kong has a lovely display of lanterns everywhere. So I decided to make a card using these as my inspiration.

Since I wanted to create a one-layer scene, I started by stamping the images on a piece of eclipse masking sheet, and fussy cut them with my cutter bee scissors. I then used these masks as a guide to stamp the images. To create the 3d effect, I stamped the lanterns I wanted in the foreground first using Memento Black Ink. Then I masked them and stamped the lanterns in the background. Next, I masked all the lanterns and stamped the storefront. After that, I masked the store and the ground and used Soft Granite ink by Hero Arts along with a blender brush to colour the wall. Once the ink was evenly blended, I placed the English Brick wall Stencil by My Favorite Things on it and coloured it using the same ink. After that, I masked the wall and coloured the ground using Forest ink from the My Monthly Hero July 2019 kit. Then I unmasked the images and used my Copic Markers to colour them.

Below are the colours I used:
Orange Lantern – YR09, YR04, Y38, Y15, Y02
Blue Lantern – B06, B04, B02, B000, Y00
Green Lantern – G29, G17, G14, YG13, Y11
Red Lantern – R39, R29, R24, R22, Y15, Y02
Purple Lantern – V17, V15, V12, V01, Y00
Gold on the Lanterns – E99, YR24, Y08, Y02
Store – N3, N1, 0, R35, R22, E59, E57, E55, E53, C7, C5, C3
Grass – G28, G17, G14, YG67

I wanted the image to pop, so I outlined all the images with my Copic Multiliner pen. Then I drew the strings for the lantern using Sakura White Gelly roll pen and went over it with Uniball Gold pen. Since the background is dark, the gold wasn’t visible so I tried the above method and I am happy with the result.

Next, I placed the sentiment from the My Monthly Hero September 2018 kit on my Misti and stamped it using Obsidian Pigment Ink. After that, I used Pitch Black cardstock to create a black mat for the card panel and stuck this panel on an A2 card base using art glitter glue.
