Creative Watercolor Media
Hello there! Welcome to my blog! Today I would like to share a card I made for the Creative Watercolor Media by Altenew Academy. This course is taught by Jennifer Rzasa, Debby Hughes, and Laura Bassen, and I learnt some amazing techniques that I have implemented in my card.
I am linking this card to the Altenew July Challenge.
Since I wanted to heat emboss the images, I prepped an A2 watercolour cardstock by Altenew using embossing powder bag to remove any static. Then I stamped the flowers and leaves from the Poppy Garden Stamp Set using VersaMark ink, sprinkled Antique Gold embossing powder on it, dusted off the excess and heat set it with my heat gun.
To colour the flowers, I smooshed Pink Pearl and Heart Beat Crisp Inks on my media mat and sprinkled water on it. I followed the wet on wet technique to colour these images. For this technique, you need to use clean water to paint the images and then drop the paint/ink on the panel. The colour then spreads to the area that is wet. Once the flowers were dry, I added the shadows using Vineyard Berry Crisp Ink.
For the leaves, I used Just Green, Hunter Green and Maple Yellow Crisp Inks and followed the above process. I then fussy cut the images using my cutter bee scissors.
After that, I prepped a black cardstock and stamped the sentiment from the Happy Birthday Stamp Set by The Stamping Village using VersaMark ink. Then I sprinkled Antique gold embossing powder and heat set it with my heat gun. I then cut this sentiment panel to a small rectangle using my trimmer and ran the VersaMark ink pad around the edges. Next, I sprinkled Antique gold embossing powder on it and heat set it. I also embossed the edges of 2 thin strips of black cardstock to frame the card panel.
To create the background, I smooshed Silver Stone Crisp Ink on my media mat, sprayed water on it using my Distress Sprayer and dabbed an A2 watercolour cardstock on it. Once the panel was dry, I smooshed Industrial Diamond Crisp Ink on a piece of Acetate, sprayed water on it, and then lightly dabbed it on the card panel. After that, I used my Jet Black watercolour brush pen to splatter black ink on the card panel.
Lastly, I trimmed this card panel and stuck the images using art glitter glue. I stuck the bottom left flower using foam tape to add dimension to the card.
