Craftin Desert Divas – Lets Get Colouring
Welcome back to my blog! We have a Designer Creative Colouring Challenge this week at Craftin Desert Diva’s. As I am a part of the Digital Design Team, I decided to use the Floral arrangement Digital Stamp to create this card.
I started by resizing the image, printing it on a sheet from Canson Watercolor Pad and cut it to A2 size. Then I coloured it using my Zig Markers. After that, I added details to the flowers and leaves with my Faber Castell Polychromos.
Next, I stamped the sentiment from the This & That Stamp Set using VersaFine Onyx Black Ink. Then I masked the coloured image and splattered Candied Apple Distress Ink on the entire card.
As a final step, I stuck the card stock to an A2 top folding card base.
Few tips:
- Whenever you buy new colours, be it inks, alcohol markers, pencil colours, watercolour pans/tubes, etc. the first step to do is to swatch them. That way you have the chart ready when you want to use them.
- If you are a beginner, you can stamp and emboss the image with clear embossing powder. This helps you stay within the lines. I do use this trick most of the times. However does not work with alcohol inks/markers.
- Using two mediums can give you amazing results. When you use watercolours to colour the image, you can add details with pencil colours or gel pens.
- For no line watercolour technique, stamp the image using a light water soluble ink. If you do not have a lighter colour, you can use second generation stamping technique to get the same effect. Antique Linen Distress Ink is excellent for no line watercolour.
I have listed the products used below. Thank you for visiting my Blog.
