Altenew 24 Hour Retreat
Hey there! Today I would like to share a card I made for the Altenew 24 hour retreat to celebrate International Card Making Day. Thank you so much, Bridget Casey and Amy Hill for organising this fun filled event.❤️
To create the background, I dipped a brush in water and painted over an A2 watercolour paper to make it slightly wet. Then I used Emerald, Mountain Mist and Lime Watercolour Brush Markers to colour the lower portion of the card panel and Turquoise and Desert Night Watercolour Brush Markers to colour the upper portion. Once this panel was dry, I splattered water on it using a round brush and dabbed off the excess using a paper towel.
Next, I die cut the flowers, stamens and leaves from Neenah Solar White 80lb cardstock using Painted Blooms, Lovely Envelope, Craft-a-flower: Cistus and Branches and Berries Die Sets. I coloured them using the below Crisp Dye inks:
Yellow flowers – Citrus Burst and Maple Yellow
Orange Flowers – Citrus Burst, Orange Cream and Autumn Blaze
Red Flowers – Heart Beat and Vineyard Berry
Leaves 1 – Parrot, Just Green, Hunter Green, Moss and Evergreen
Leaves 2 – Parrot, Autumn Blaze, Just Green and Evergreen
Stamens – Citrus Burst, Just Green and Evergreen
After that, I lightly spritz the wrong side of the die cuts with water using the Fine Mister bottle. Then I used an embossing tool to shape them. Next, I turned them to the right side and shaped the centre of the flowers and stamens using the embossing tool. I then ran the embossing tool over the stems of the leaves.
While the flowers, stamens and leaves were drying, I die cut a piece of Jet Black cardstock using the Garden Trellis Cover Die. Next, I used the Mini Blending Brush to apply embossing ink randomly through the die cut panel. Then I sprinkled Antique Gold Crisp Embossing Powder on the panel and heat set it.
After that, I stamped the sentiment from the Simply Spring Stamp Set on a piece of black cardstock using embossing ink, sprinkled Antique Gold Embossing Powder, and heat set it. Next, I trimmed the sentiment panel, inked the edges using the same ink and embossed it using the gold embossing powder. Then I stuck a few pieces of cardstock behind it to give it some dimension.
Next, I stuck the flowers using liquid glue and then added details to the flowers using the 01 Fine Liner Pen. I used the black brush pen to colour the top of the stamens. Lastly, I assembled the card and stuck the panel on an A2 card base.
I have listed the products used below. Thank you for joining me today. Have a fabulous day.
