Masking Unleashed
Hello there and welcome to my blog. Here is the card I made for the Masking Unleashed Course by Altenew Academy.
In this course, Svitlana Shayevich gives amazing tips on the different masking techniques that you can use for different mediums. She also shares the stunning cards she made with those techniques. For my card, I followed a couple of techniques from this course.
First, I stamped the solid layers of the flowers, leaves and stems from the Exotic Tulips Stamp Set on a masking sheet and fussy cut them using my cutter bee scissors. Next, I cut a sheet of Neenah Solar White 110lb cardstock to 4 1/4 * 7 1/4 inches using my trimmer. Then I used my Misti to stamp the different layers of the images. Below are the colours I used:
Tulips:
1st Layer – Pink Pearl
2nd Layer – Coral Bliss
3rd Layer – Heart Beat
4th Layer – Vineyard Berry
Leaves:
1st Layer – Parrot
2nd Layer – Shadow Creek
I stamped the flowers and leaves in the foreground first, masked them and then stamped the images in the background. Once I was done with the stamping, I inked the lower portion of the panel using Hunter Green Crisp Ink along with a blender brush. To add more texture, I smooshed Evergreen and Hunter Green Crisp Inks on my media mat, sprinkled some water on it and used a round brush to splatter these inks on the card panel.
Next, I unmasked the images and used my Polychromos Pencils – 217, 219, 194 and 174 to add details to the flowers and leaves.
I wanted to use negative stamping for my sentiment, so, I used mint tape to align the alphabets from the Caps Bold Alphabet Die Set, placed them on a masking sheet and ran them through my Mini Blossom Die Cutting Machine. Then I placed the die cut masking sheet on the card panel and stamped the images from the Mini Starry Flower Stamp Set using Memento Black ink. While stamping inside an alphabet, I masked the rest of them using memo tape, to avoid accidentally stamping the others. Then I outlined the alphabets using a Black Copic Multiliner pen.
Since I wanted to ink the sky, I unmasked the card panel and used the positive masks to mask the alphabets. I then inked the top portion of the card panel using Starlight Crisp Ink and a blender brush. Next, I smooshed Azurite and Starlight Crisp Inks on my media mat and splattered these inks on the card panel.
Then I unmasked the alphabets and used my Copic Markers – Y02, R22, R20, R00 and YG11 to colour the flowers inside the sentiment. I then used my Polychromos Pencil – 226 to add details and shadows.
Lastly, I stamped the sentiment from the Stone Mosaic Stamp Set using Obsidian Pigment Ink and stuck this panel on to a card base using art glitter glue.
I have listed the products used below. Thank you for visiting my Blog.
