4th February Altenew 12-Hour Retreat

Hello and welcome to my blog! Today I would like to share a card I taught during the 4th February Altenew 12-hour retreat. Thank you, Bridget Casey and Amy Hill, for organising this amazing event. And thanks a ton to everyone who attended my class. ❤️

First, I stamped the images from the Goldfish Pond Stamp Set on Neenah Solar white 80lb cardstock using Permanent Black Crisp Dye Ink. I then coloured them using the below Artist Markers:
Fishes – Sunkissed, Autumn Blaze, Firebrick, Limestone, Silver Stone, Industrial Diamond
Leaves – Vineyard Berry, Hunter Green, Just Green, Sweet Leaf, Minty Mint
Flower – Pink Pearl, Coral Bliss, Heart Beat

Next, I die cut the stones from Neenah Solar White 110lb cardstock using the Calming Reflection Cover Die. I repeated this step twice more and stuck the die cut pieces together. Then I inked them using Sand Dunes, Rocky Shore, Mocha, Espresso, Olive, Raw Amber and Jet Black Crisp Dye Inks and mini blending brushes. I then splattered Jet Black Watercolour on the stones.

For the background, trim Yupo or any synthetic paper to 3 1/4 x 6 inches. I used Nara Alcohol Ink Paper (330 microns/250 gsm). Then I put a few drops of Persian Blue, Citrus Burst, Aqualicious and Hydrangea Alcohol Ink Refills in a palette and diluted them using a few drops of 99% isopropyl alcohol. Next, I used brushes to create lines/strips on the card panel.

Note:
• I recommend using inexpensive brushes as alcohol might damage the bristles of the expensive ones.
• To clean the brushes use Isopropyl alcohol or blending solution.
• Do not use the alcohol ink brushes for other mediums.

To add texture, I sprayed isopropyl alcohol on the panel using the fine mister. Once the ink was dry, I placed gold foil on the panel and gently burnished it. Then I stuck this panel on a 3 1/2 x 6 1/4 inches Jet black cardstock.

After that, I stamped the sentiment from the Bold Sentiments Stamp Set on white cardstock using Obsidian Pigment Ink. I then used a trimmer to cut it to a strip leaving a white border.

As the last step, I stuck the images on the card front and stuck this panel on a card base.

Important Note:
• Always work in a well-ventilated area.
• Do not spray alcohol inks or blending solution.
• Wear gloves and safety glasses when working with alcohol inks.
• Wear a mask meant for natural gases if working with alcohol inks for a longer period. i.e. 3m masks with 60923 Cartridge
• Do not work with alcohol inks if you are pregnant.
• Wash your hands with soap and water after using alcohol inks.

I have listed the products used below. Thank you for joining me today. Have a fabulous day.
