Time Out Challenge #178 – Life in the City
Hello there! Welcome to my blog. I am absolutely thrilled to share my first post as a Guest Designer at the Time Out Challenge Blog. I am very grateful to the team for inviting me to Guest Design for them.
The theme for challenge #178 is – Life in the City + Optional Twist use ink blending or sponging.
For the โLife in the Cityโ part of the challenge, I used the Cityscape die by Mama Elephant and die cut it twice from a piece of black cardstock. To create the lights for the apartments, I inked a printer paper using Copic Marker Y08 and stuck it to the back of a die cut panel using art glitter glue. Then I stuck the other die cut panel behind it to add dimension.
To include the optional twist of using ink blending or sponging, I started by prepping an A2 card base using embossing magic pad to remove any static. Then I stamped the first layer of the fireworks images from the Fireworks Stamp Set by My Favorite Things using VersaMark ink, sprinkled antique gold embossing powder on it, dusted off the excess and heat set it with my heat gun. Next, I stamped the second layer and sprinkled white embossing powder on it and heat set it.
After that, I inked the fireworks using Mustard Seed, Carved Pumpkin, Candied Apple, Twisted Citron, Picked Raspberry, Mermaid Lagoon, Blueprint Sketch and Wilted Violet Distress Inks along with my blender brushes. Then I inked the rest of the sky using Blueprint Sketch, Chipped Sapphire and Black Soot Distress Inks. Next, I splattered Yellow Gold watercolour from the Kuretake Gansai Tambi Starry Night collection using a round brush.
To create the sentiment, I die cut the word ‘happy’ using a die from the My Monthly Hero September 2019 kit. I also die cut the numbers using the Stitched Numbers Die Set by My Favorite Things. Next, I inked all the die cut pieces using VersaMark Ink, sprinkled antique gold embossing powder on them, dusted off the excess and heat set them. I repeated this process four times to add dimension to these pieces and make them look like embellishments. Lastly, I assembled the card panel using art glitter glue.
I hope you give this challenge a try, and I cannot wait to see all your amazing projects on the blog.
