Sea You Soon
Fishing is an activity I have seen my uncles enjoy since I was a little girl and the Fishing Challenge at the Male Room Challenge Blog brought back these fond memories from my childhood. The immense joy these trips used to bring came flooding to my mind and hence I decided to make a card with the “sea you soon” sentiment dedicated to my uncles and in the hope of having such a fishing trip sometime soon.
First, I stamped the fishes from the Hero Arts Color Layering Goldfish Stamp Set using Altenew Crimson, Velvet and Jet Black inks and die cut them with their coordinating dies. I also stamped the starfish image using the Sea-Lestial stamp by Maymay Made It in blue ink and then embossed it with clear embossing powder. Then I coloured the image with Zig Markers.
I cut a 1 1/2 inches wide panel and masked the lower part with the Drifts & Hills Stencil by MFT. Then, I coloured the unmasked area with Mermaid Lagoon and Cracked Pistachio Distress Inks. After that, I used the Sunrise Radiating Rays Stencil by MFT along with Salty Ocean Distress Ink to give the impression of light reflecting in the water. I then stamped some bubbles using the bubbles stamps from the Sea-lestial Stamp Set by Maymay Made It.
Once I was done with the top part of the panel, I switched the Drifts & Hills Stencil to mask off the coloured area and started working on the lower part. I coloured the background with Tea Dye Distress ink. Then, I applied VersaMark ink, sprinkled some Sand Dunes Embossing Powder by Wow Embossing and heat set it. I love the effect this embossing powder has.
I then cut two panels from a cardstock using the first and second largest die from the Hero Arts Infinity Die set. Then, I stamped the sentiment on the right side of the smaller panel using VersaMark Onyx Black Ink. I love this punny sentiment from the CraftyScrappers You Are So Rare Stamp Set and it seemed perfect for the card.
Finally, I assembled the card by sticking all the panels on top of each other. Then, I stuck the images on the coloured panel and added a few Nuvo Crystal Drops – Morning Dew around the fishes and the sentiment to complete the card.
