In The Mood For Color

Hello and welcome to my blog! Today I would like to share a card I made for the In The Mood For Color Course by Altenew Academy.

In this course, Stephanie Klauck shares some great tips on how you can use colour to showcase a sentiment. I found this course very informative, and I loved the gorgeous cards she shared. I decided to use the colour orange for my card as it symbolises Health, Happiness and Courage.

For this card, I used the Sunflower Daisy Stamp Set. I started by stamping multiple images of the flowers and leaves. Below are the colours I used:

2 Orange Flowers:
1st Layer – Sunkissed
2nd Layer – Orange Cream
3rd Layer – Autumn Blaze
4th Layer – Firebrick
5th Layer (Center) – Firefly
6th Layer (Center) – Grass Field
7th Layer (Center) – Mountain Pine

1 Orange Flower: To make this flower look different, I did not stamp the first layer.
2nd Layer – Sunkissed
3rd Layer – Orange Cream
4th Layer – Firebrick
5th Layer (Center) – Frayed Leaf
6th Layer (Center) – Moss
7th Layer (Center) – Evergreen

Leaves 1:
1st Layer – Firefly
2nd Layer – Grass Field
3rd Layer – Mountain Pine

Leaves 2:
1st Layer – Frayed Leaf
2nd Layer – Moss
3rd Layer – Evergreen

After that, I fussy cut these images using cutter bee scissors. To cut the flower without the 1st layer stamped, I placed a mask of that layer on the image and fussy cut it.

Next, I die cut a piece of Neenah Solar White 110lb cardstock using the Circle Quilt Cover die and cut it using my trimmer. Then I applied Cosmic Shimmer Glue on it and let it dry. I then applied Red Blaze Gilding Flakes using a tweezer and buffed it with my Nuvo Brush. I used a Swiffer cloth to remove any excess gilding flakes from my craft mat.

For the background, I used an A2 Distress Watercolor cardstock and inked the top portion of the panel using Orange Cream, Autumn Blaze and Firebrick Crisp Inks along with my blender brushes. Then I splattered some water on the panel and dabbed off the excess with a paper towel. Next, I splattered White Iridescent Shimmer Spray using a round brush. I also splattered Orange Cream, Autumn Blaze and Firebrick Crisp Inks for more texture.

Once this panel was dry, I stamped the sentiment from the Just Because Stamp Set using Obsidian Pigment Ink. Next, I assembled the card and stuck this panel on an A2 card base.

I have listed the products used below. Thank you for visiting my Blog.
