Encouragement card using Owl Nerds stamp by Pink and Main
Welcome back to my blog. As I had mentioned in my previous post, I really loved the Owl Nerds stamp from Pink & Main and couldn’t resist making another card with the same stamp set. Though the process is a bit similar to the previous one, there are a few things that make this card different. You can click here to view the previous card.
As I wanted to watercolour the image, I used Canson XL Mix Media paper and cut it using Mama Elephant – Peek a frame die (the largest die in the set). I then stamped the image on the cardstock and on a masking sheet with Versafine Onyx Black ink using my Tim Holtz Stamp Platform. I fuzzy cut the stamped image on the masking sheet and stuck it on the image on the cardstock to prevent the image from getting coloured while I work on the background.
For the background, I used Gingham stencil by Simon Says Stamp and secured it at the sides with some washi tape. Then, using a Round Sponge Ink Blending Tool I dabbed Worn Lipstick Distress Oxide ink on the top half and Spiced Marmalade Distress Oxide ink on the lower half of the card. I blended the ink in the middle of the cardstock to give a smooth transitioning between both the colours.
I then removed the stencil and lightly went over the areas where the white cardstock was visible with the same colours. I then sprayed some water from a distance using the Tim Holtz Distress Spray Bottle and dabbed it with a paper towel.
After I was done with the background, I coloured the image using Zig Clean Brush Markers. Then I stamped the sentiment from the same stamp set with Versafine Onyx Black ink. I took some Distress Micro Glaze and rubbed it all over the card with my fingers. Then I used a paper towel to remove any excess. Distress Oxides have a chalk finish and applying Micro Glaze on it makes the colour of the Distress Oxides pop out and the finished product looks amazing!
Finally, I stuck the cardstock on a Daffodil card base by Hero Arts. And another card is ready! Wasn’t that super easy!
