Celebration- Stencil Techniques

Hello and welcome back to my blog! Today I would like to share two encouragement cards I made for the Celebration- Stencil Techniques Course by Altenew Academy. Laurel Beard teaches a few awesome and fun stencil techniques in this course. It is an amazing course, and I enjoyed learning new ways to use stencils. I have followed a few of Laurel’s techniques to make these cards.

The Altenew October Challenge picture inspired me to make this card.

Card 1:
First, I cut a piece of Neenah Solar White 110lb cardstock to 8 * 4 inches. Then I placed the Watercolor Bouquet Stencil on it, masked the leaves and the stem, and inked the flowers using Fresh Lemon Dye ink along with a blender brush. Then I went over the edges of the flower using Maple Yellow Dye ink. After that, I masked the flowers and inked the leaves using Just Green Dye Ink. I then unmasked the images and placed the second portion of this layering stencil on the image and coloured the flowers using Rubellite Dye ink and the leaves using Hunter Green Dye ink.

I then placed the stencil on a masking sheet, coloured it, fussy cut it and masked the image. After that, I placed the Stone Wall Stencil on the card panel and lightly coloured it with Starlight Dye ink and a blender brush. Next, I placed the Broken Chevrons Stencil on top of the Stone Wall Stencil and lightly inked it using Rubellite Dye ink. Then I coloured the edges using Tide Blue and Starlight Dye inks

After that, I smooshed Starlight and Jet Black Dye inks on my media mat, sprayed water on them and splattered them on the background using a round brush. I then unmasked the image. Next, I stamped the sentiment from Better Together Stamp Set using Obsidian Pigment Ink. To create a mat for this panel, I stuck it on a piece of black cardstock measuring 8 1/4 * 4 1/4 inches. Lastly, I stuck it on to a card base using art glitter glue.

Card 2:
For my second card, I followed the same steps as the above card to colour the stencilled image and masked it. Next, I placed the Stone Wall Stencil on the card panel and coloured it with Starlight Dye ink and a blender brush. I coloured the centre portion darker and the outer portion lighter. After that, I placed the Broken Chevrons Stencil on top of the Stone Wall Stencil and inked it using Rubellite Dye ink. I then removed the stencils and used Fresh Lemon Dye ink to colour around the flower to give it a glow.

Next, I splattered Jet Black Dye inks on the background using a round brush. After that, I unmasked the image and stuck this panel on a piece of black cardstock measuring 8 1/4 * 4 1/4 inches. Then I stamped the sentiment from the Fancy Greetings Stamp Set using Obsidian Pigment Ink and stuck the card panel on a card base.

I have listed the products used below. Thank you for visiting my Blog.
