Altenew Summer Adventure Stand-alone Dies Collection Release Blog Hop + Giveaway

Hello there! Welcome back to my blog! I am so thrilled to join Altenew for the Summer Adventure Stand-alone Dies Collection Release Blog Hop + Giveaway. You should be arriving here from the amazing Natasha’s blog, but if not, you can go back to the start, at the Altenew Card Blog and go from there.

You can get the entire Stand-alone dies release HERE.

Project 1

I started by placing the Abstract Seascape Slim Cover Die on a sheet of Neenah Solar white 110lb cardstock and ran it through my die cutting machine. Then I used washi tape on the back of the die cut panel to hold the pieces together.

Next, I inked the sky using Wisteria, Ultraviolet, Azurite and Jet Black Crisp Dye Inks along with my ink blending tools. To create the stars, I splattered white gouache on the panel using a round brush. I then inked the sea using Tide Blue, Starlight, Desert Night and Jet Black Crisp Dye Inks.

After that, I coloured the moon using my yellow alcohol markers. Then I used the die to cut another frame from white cardstock and stuck it on a 2 3/4 * 6 3/4 inches card base. Next, I removed the washi tape from the inked panel and stuck the inked pieces on the card base using precision glue.

Project 2

First, I coloured an A2 watercolour cardstock using Lagoon, Midnight Violet, Persian Blue and Sea Breeze Watercolour Brush Markers.

Next, I stuck the double sided adhesive sheet on white cardstock, placed the Moroccan Lattice Cover Die on top of the adhesive sheet and ran it through my die cutting machine. I then removed the protective sheet and applied gilding flakes on the die cut panel. Then I used a rough brush to remove any excess gilding flakes and also add texture to the panel.

For the sentiment, I stuck an adhesive sheet on white cardstock and die cut the inner portion using dies from the All About You Word Die Set. After that, I applied gilding flakes on it and followed the above process. I then die cut the outer portion of the sentiment from Jet Black cardstock.

Next, I stuck the Moroccan lattice die cut panel on the watercolour background using precision glue. Then I stuck a strip of vellum on the panel and stuck the sentiment on top of the vellum. As the last step, I stuck this card panel on an A2 card base.

Project 3

I placed the Peeking Leaves Cover Die on white cardstock and ran it through my die cutting machine. Then I stuck double sided adhesive sheet on a card base and stuck the frame and the top white portion on it.

After that, I die cut the lower portion a few times from the Sea Shore Gradient Cardstock Set and stuck the pieces randomly on the panel. I then die cut the frame from Jet black cardstock and stuck it on the card front.

Lastly, I stamped the sentiment from the Folk Art Stamp Set using Obsidian Pigment Ink.

  1. I don’t know where to start…I love the blending and sky on your first card, the gold gilding on the second card is fabulous and putting all those colors in the leaves is something that I don’t have patience to do, simply beautiful! Thanks for the inspiration!

  2. Your cards are stunning. I love the background on your seascape card and I love the Moroccan die with the goldleafing. Just beautiful!

  3. Gorgeous cards, great ink blending on first card, 2nd card very elegant, 3rd wow fitting the various shades back in the die cuts is so cute! Thanks for sharing!

  4. Wonderful, fun cards. I really love the last one — the Peeking Leaves Cover Die is gorgeous and I love the sentiment.

  5. Love your inking on the slimline card, and the black peeking leaves with the green inlay is very effective.

  6. Love your use of deep, rich colors in all your cards, especially the seascape. Awesome! Thank you for sharing your talent and inspiring us.

  7. The nighttime sea card is a totally different approach than I’ve seen from other designers, and I love the look.

  8. I really like all the dies in this new release, but I am totally in love with how you used the leaf cover die. What a great tip to adhere the first layer in white using double sided adhesive—an easy way to add the little colored pieces! I would have been making a mess with my liquid glue doing that! Love the color gradient you achieved using the seashore cardstock! Thanks for some awesome ideas!

  9. Gorgeous cards! The seascape die was already on my wish list, and I love the card you created with it! The Peeking Leaves die is another favorite!

  10. The colors you used are really nice! I love how you made the abstract seascape look like night time. I also love the gradient cardstock you chose for the peaking leaves diecut.
