Altenew – January 2022 Inspiration Challenge
Hello there! Welcome back to my blog. I am so glad you stopped by. I made this card for the Altenew Monthly Challenge using a few of my favourite Altenew products.
With Chinese New Year around the corner, there are so many beautiful varieties of orchids in the flower shops all around here. I have always loved orchids, and so this time of the year is especially my favourite. I felt inspired to paint orchids, which was the reason I made this card using the gorgeous Oriental Orchid Stamp Set.
First, I placed the Mod Vases Mask Stencil on an A2 watercolour cardstock using a washi tape. Then I drew the outline of the vase using a fine liner pen. Next, I drew it on a masking sheet, fussy cut it and stuck it on the card panel. After that, I stamped the flower in the foreground, masked it and then stamped the flower behind it. I repeated this process of stamping and masking till I stamped all the images.
I followed the wet on wet technique to colour the background. I used a size 2 round brush, dipped it in water, and used it to wet the background. Then I dropped Citrus Burst and Orange Cream colours from the Watercolour 36 Pan Set randomly on the card panel and let the colours flow.
Next, I coloured the flowers and buds using Puffy Heart watercolour for the first layer and Purple Wine watercolour for the second layer. For the leaves, I used a mix of Desert Night and Forest Glades watercolours and for the stem, I used a mix of Emerald and Desert Night watercolours.
After that, I coloured the centres of the flowers using Bamboo watercolour and added the spots using Purple Wine watercolour. I then coloured the sides of the vase using a mix of Persian Blue and Midnight Violet watercolours. Next, I used Lavender Fields watercolour to colour the shadow below the vase.
Once the panel was dry, I masked the areas around the vase and stamped the trees from the Spectacular Adventures Stamp Set using Ultramarine Crisp Dye Ink. Next, I used a damp brush to pull the ink out from the stamped image. Lastly, I stuck this panel on an A2 card base using precision glue.
I have listed the products used below. Thank you for joining me today. Have a fabulous day.
